I promised updates, and I’m going to keep them coming!! Next up I have the lovely and talented Andy Davis. My best friend (and fantassssstic musician) Brandon Clark turned me on to Andy a few years ago, and I’ve been rockin’ to his piano filled love songs ever since. I was lucky enough to see him live and shoot some photos, and then have Andy and his bass player come by my office the next day and model some gloves my boss has designed. I cropped the gloves out of some of them just to make them look a little less like an advertisment. They were both nice guys, I’d love to shoot both of them again, maybe without the gloves haha.

So. This is LONG overdue. I’ve been shooting like crazy, and failing to update everyone on my progress. So this is the first of many blogs that I will post in the next few hours/days. First on the list: Copeland. It’s no secret that I love this band, I have since I was 16. They keep getting better, and everytime I see them live, they knock me off their feet. Aaron Marsh has one of the most beautiful voices I’ve ever heard, and his band just brings it to the next level. I love that they still play songs off their first albums after all these years, hearing “Brightest” and “When Paula Sparks” still give me chills live. Here are just a few shots of Copeland and their opening band, This Providence.
And Copeland guitarist was cool enough to spent a little up-close-and-personal time with Brooke and I in South Paw’s photo booth, here’s a peek at some of the results:

It is ALWAYS a pleasure to be around William Fitzsimmons. I got to see him play with Rosi Golan this weekend, and there was no lack of excitement. Although William’s music is VERY sad (but so amazingly beautiful), he is a HILAROUS guy. And all the divorce songs in the world couldn’t get you down with that fantastic beard around

Last night I got a second chance go to Mercury Lounge to shoot the Alternate Routes, a band managed by Brick Wall Management (where I am currently working). They are a great band, and last nights show was SO high energy. I dont know what it was, but they were really on their game last night. They were even better then a few months ago when they opened for Wertz. You will probably be able to see from the photos but the band AND the crowd seemed to have a great time, and it was a real blast.
I got the EXTREME honor of shooting the Sons of William/Slow Runner/Damnwells show this weekend. Honestly, The Damnwells are one of the top 5 best live bands I have ever seen. Their sound is so true to their album, but full and rockin all the same. They played a huge set list really late at night, but everyone stuck around to see them. Below are some of my favorite shots from the night, more will be myspaced/posted on my website I’m sure. I may also post some of my shots of SOW and Slow Runner when I’m finished editing.

This photo pretty much sums up how I’ve been feeling lately, and how I’ve been feeling about NEW YORK lately. NY and I have had a bit of a falling out, but we’re starting to rekindle the flame. Sort of a love/hate relationship. Like, I love this city and hate the job market. haha. But just like Ryan Adams says, I’ll Always Love You, New York.
I got to go down to Savannah, Georgia to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with some of my very best friends in the world last week. They all pitched in money and got me a plane ticket, and I can honestly not thank all of them enough. Mark, Kaylan, Jon, Morgan, and everyone else who did anything to make this trip possible/wonderful, THANK YOU. Also, my bff Brooke took the trip, so I had the best traveling partner ever, and the trip went FLAWLESSLY. I miss Georgia, NYC is great but I have never really considered any where h-o-m-e like I do Georgia.
Anyway, on our last day in our favorite state, Brooke, Kaylan, and I drove from Savannah to Atlanta and had lunch and playtime with some great people, one of which was Mr. Matthew Clark. He’s an aspiring bodybuilder, and I got to do a quick shoot with him, and just wanted to share some of the results with everyone. Enjoy!

You have taught me lessons I never wanted to learn, but had to.
You gave me friends I never would have had otherwise.
You changed all of our lives.
I would give it all up to have you back.
You made us better people.
You ARE an angel, and we know you’re with us all the time.
And one day, we will all be back together again.
I got the wonderful chance to shoot one of my current favorite bands, Lydia, at the Mercury Bar in Manhattan this past week (thanks to Celeste at Universal). I actually had photo passes to their show in Atlanta at the end of 2008 while they were on tour with Copeland and Lovedrug, but there was confusion about our passes at the box office and ended up missing their set. So, when I found out they were playing here in New York, I had to get a second chance.
I’m so glad I did.
Their music is just as beautiful live as it is in the studio. The band admitted (and apologized!) to being sick, but had they not said anything we would have never noticed. The band, which consists of a few mellow, low key guys, a few high energy rockers, and an equally beautiful and talented female keyboard player, made the early show rock just as hard as any other Mercury bar show. The only disappointing part of the show was realizing how much I missed NOT seeing them in Atlanta. I would love to keep shooting Lydia in the future, they made for some good shots for sure. The entire collection will be posted on my myspace, and Lydia can be found here, and they are very much worth the click.
